One Year later. The spirit of Rick Savastano still lives.

Just think. It was 730 high tides ago, and 730 low tides ago,
when Rick Savastano went on his final paddle. Alone. He paddled south from the northern end of North Beach, to Boars head and then back again. Imagine paddling by the beach he grew up on and loved.

He had to be reflecting on all of it. His whole life. Family, friends,
|and loved ones.

The 60's, the 70's, the 80's, the 90's and into the new millennium
.
Within a few weeks after this photo was taken, he was gone.
Just like that. Gone.

We say it all the time,
"can you believe it's been a year?, man does time fly, it seems like yesterday..." They all are appropriate here. Because it's all true.

The truth is, Rick Savastano has been gone one year. For most people, the passing of Rick is just a 'time to time' thought that may pop into your head. But for those who truly loved him and miss him,
it is a daily mourning. Some days are better than others, but the pain, it
's still there.

There was talk, that there might not be a Papa Oo Mow Mow this year. The Savastano clan were on the fence about whether to have it, and more importantly where? Well, niece Alyson and her husband Jona stepped up to the plate and pitched the new Papa Oo Mow Mow tent on their property in Hampton.

The spirit of Rick was there all night long.
A wonderful gathering.

And it was there the night before, when a somber beach ceremony was conducted on the actual date of his passing.

It was beautiful to see, and even more spiritual if you were there.
Look at Tony's face. That's spiritual. I wished I was there.

A diamond in the sky. All for you Rick.

Rick and Tony sending off another one...

And at the party last night, there were close to two hundred people in attendance. Rick might not have been happy with that number at his old house, but he had to have been smiling down on his Ohana and his friends during last night's gathering.

Typically, my band would be playing. But with this being the first night, Dave Cropper and I played our
Acoustic guitars. It was supposed to be three of us, but the other player had some kind of stage phobia. Regardless, we had fun playing together. But next year? We're bringing the band.

The Brothers 'sans' Frank B. I heard that "he" was kicked out of the band. He will not be on the Flatbread tour. It's a shame because all that rehearsing went down the drain.

Thank you very much, and I hope we passed the audition.
Looks like Dave is quite a bit taller than me. But I think he's
either in high heels, or he's standing on a stool. Or...I am that much shorter. Shit, I've heard that the older we get the shorter we get.

Earlier in the day, Rick Evans took it upon himself to do a little cosmetic work at Retirement Cove.

Rick Sav
Cove. For one weekend at least.

Happier times at the annual Papa Oo Mow Mow.
The Savastano Ohana. Rick, Barbara, and John.
RIP Rick.

LAST SURFING WITH SMILES of the Summer.

SURFING WITH SMILES This coming Thursday.
They could use HELP.
Hey I just thought of a great idea
(said the shameless self promoter) After Surfing With Smiles
is over, you can all stop by Flatbread in
Hampton to get a
pizza and hear some tunes.

Next Big Events here on the seacoast....

This is a free offer to all NH Veterans. If you have any of these symptoms and were ever curious about
acupuncture, this would be a good time to check it out.

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances
The big story of the week, besides the Iran Nuclear deal, and really that is a big story. But not as nearly ridiculous as the
TRUMP Circus. Good Lord, is this really happening?

Being a history buff I had to cry at this possibility.

About the only thing that could of made TRUMP look even more absurd would be to have KSM standing up there next to the Donald. The Khalid and The Donald.

So once again for all my KSM fans. Here's the man himself standing next to a fellow moron. The weekly humiliation of the master mind behind the September 11th 2001 attacks. The man who designed the killing of 3,000 innocent civilians. The number two big dog of AlQeada. Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

* Note to self, must pick up a case of cow manure from
Home Depot.

THIS COMING SUNDAY!!! OCCY at Cinnamon rainbows and then a free movie showing of the OCCUMENTARY at Flatbread in Hampton.

This just in. Local surfer from Rye, NH John Sexton passed away on Saturday August 8th surrounded by his loving family. More on the Surfer's paddle for John once we get the info we need.

John Sexton. Local Rye, NH Surfer. Kicked out of his last wave on Saturday August 8th, 2015. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.

Happy Birthday August people, 2015!
*Facebook no longer gives me the weekly birthday
updates. They only send me daily ones. Sorry.

Please keep my sister Evamarie in your thoughts and prayers
and continue to send positive thoughts to our dear friend Meghan Evans and family, same with surf photographer Andrew Rebeiro and my dear friend Greg Brooks. Also say a prayer for my good friend Robert Gerard. And please continue to pray for local Hampton surfers Terry Morrison and Rick Fiorentini and their families. And lastly, please pray for Dave O'Connor. A good man, a great mentor to so many kids, and a wonderful school principal. Another NH surfer passed away. Please pray for the family and friends of John Sexton. Thank you.

Please add them all to your prayer list. Thank you.

Yesterday- Ron Freeman. Style master and master photographer. Circa 1970's
(Below) I remember Ron Freeman from the early 70's as both a stylish goofyfoot and a real good photographer. Besides the occasional movie from Ed O'Connell, Ron and I were the only two shooting movies on Super 8mm. I'm not sure why, but we never collaborated on any projects. Later in life we became closer. He was an exceptional host for my son Max and I. And
we got to see certain parts of California that were up until then, a fantasy for me. Ron helped make that fantasy come true. For that alone, I am forever indebted to him.

Martha Lardent shot this on Wednesday August 5th, 2015. I was standing beside her as she shot and you can hear my running commentary unedited. Sheesh, I should shut up on the beach. She has a cool SLR with incredible video qualities. I believe it's a Panasonic. Check it out. Live and raw.

When I first heard the Beatles Sgt Peppers LP in the summer of 1967. The song "When I'm 64" seemed like a million light years away. And then...BAM. I'm sixty four. Huh? Yep. 64 one year from retirement.

These are stills from the last 64 years. Honestly I could fill several hours of pics from my life. I mean...what you see here is just some of the things and people I have met along the way.

Life is a journey. None us know when we will get our ticket punched. So my suggestion is to live each day to the fullest. Don't get hung up by trivial things. Life is good. Live it ....just LIVE IT.
